January 2026 Music Wrapped: Tracks That Stuck With Me

Ten small-artist tracks that shaped the month, from chill instrumentals to glitchy electronics and mellow indie beats.
Spinning through January with a soundtrack that refuses to stay still.

Mmm, I know January isn’t exactly over yet, but I figured I’d take a moment to jot down some of the music that really marked the month for me. This isn’t your typical Spotify Wrapped thing with stats and charts—just me, the tracks that caught my ear, and whatever little vibes they left behind. Most of these are from smaller artists, nothing mainstream, which I guess makes it feel more like a personal mix than anything else.

Luminescence – Tape Arcade

Okay, starting with Luminescence. This one’s purely instrumental, no vocals at all, and honestly, that’s why I like it. It’s calm, unassuming, mellow—the kind of track that doesn’t try to grab your attention but instead lets you sink into it. I usually throw this on in the late afternoon, maybe when the sun’s starting to dip a little, and it feels like the room gets quieter around me. Feels like the music is doing its own thing, and I’m just along for the ride.

wait4me – blxty & kuru

This track is a little different—soft R&B vibes, very intimate. The lyrics, or at least the feel of them, are about waiting, wanting, and that quiet tension you get when someone’s on your mind. It’s mellow but not sleepy; there’s a subtle pulse underneath that keeps you aware, like you’re drifting but still conscious. I see myself putting this on late at night, maybe just to have some company while thinking about random stuff, nothing heavy. Really.

asiana (feat. yuske & yuri63k) – MUNZi

MUNZi’s asiana is chill, but in a more upbeat, dreamy way. It’s the kind of song that feels like it could score a quiet drive through the city at night—or maybe just sitting on your balcony, headphones in, watching the streetlights. Smooth synths, gentle rhythm, and it carries a kind of nostalgia without being sad. Yeah, it’s mellow, but there’s energy there too, subtle, not in your face.

need u (feat. jons & victxrw) – akura

I... ugh, this one hits differently. It’s got this emo-ish, alternative feel—cloud rap-ish beats, soft but a little raw in the emotion. Feels like vulnerability wrapped in a melody that could almost float away if you weren’t paying attention. I don’t know, it’s the type of track that makes me pause sometimes, just to notice how the emotions are being shaped by the sound itself.

talk to me – kuudere & Miraie

This one’s subtle, smooth, kind of atmospheric. It’s not loud or dramatic, more like a conversation you have with yourself. Maybe it’s the soft electronic layers or the way the melody flows—it’s reflective, easy to sink into. Feels like it’s meant to be background but still has enough detail that you can catch little things if you focus. Perfect for writing or just thinking quietly.

babytooth – Senses & Nosgov

Short, sweet, melodic—catchy but understated. Pop-ish with a gentle alternative touch, easygoing. I like it because it’s light, gives a little lift without trying too hard, and I find myself replaying it just because it’s pleasant. Not all tracks need to be heavy or emotional, and this one’s a reminder that simplicity can be satisfying too.

clouds – demotapes & Elohim

Okay, this track has a warm, flowing vibe. Smooth electronic pop, feels kind of spacious. I’d put it on when I want something gentle but textured enough to avoid boredom. It’s one of those songs that lets you drift a little while still keeping a soft pulse, the kind of music that could be your background soundtrack without ever being intrusive.

I’ve always really liked the style of demotapes—talk slow, sedatives, found—it’s more like how I see the world... Mmm, maybe that’s a bit over the top, but there’s something about the way the music drifts and stretches that just clicks with me.

all2me – wenszy

Pop that’s sweet but not overproduced. Upbeat in a low-key way, vocals soft but charming. Yeah, it’s light, maybe even playful, and I like it for when the day’s dragging a little. Makes the room feel a bit warmer, if that makes sense. Romantic without being heavy-handed, cheerful without being annoying.

Failing – Frost Children

This one’s glitchy, chaotic, but in a compelling way. Hyperpop-ish energy, playful yet a little disorienting. I don’t know, it’s hard to explain—it feels like your brain gets stretched for a second, in a good way. I see this in the mix as a palette cleanser, a track that shakes up the mellow vibes and reminds me that music can be unpredictable and fun, not just calming or reflective.

remains of a corrupted file – s777n

Finally, remains of a corrupted file. Experimental electronic, fragmented and textured. Sounds almost like digital debris given a soundtrack—glitchy, ambient, and abstract, but somehow coherent. It’s introspective without being sad, almost like wandering through an unfamiliar but fascinating space. Yeah, the kind of music that makes you pause and pay attention in a different way.

Closing Thoughts

So that’s it, my January mix. Ten tracks, mostly from smaller artists, and very little mainstream in the bunch. I guess what ties them together is the mood: reflective, subtle, personal—some chill, some playful, some glitchy, some intimate. It’s been nice to have these as a sort of soundtrack for the month, even if no one else hears it.

If anything, sharing this feels less like showing off and more like leaving a little trail of where my head’s been. Maybe it resonates with someone, maybe it doesn’t—but either way, it’s honest.
